Dissatisfaction

Many people are drawn to Zen by their dissatisfaction with themselves. They want to be someone else. They point to Deshan, but they are pointing to the greenhorn Deshan, when he was always already to argue. If you are stuck here, you are still riding a tricycle. Deshan didn’t become somebody else. He just matured. You put away childish things once you slice through Deshan’s ultimately mature challenge, “If you can say ‘Yes,’ you get 30 blows; if you say ‘No,’ you get 30 blows.

  2. Yes I can see Deshans' point. I can understand why some like to put him up on a pedestal, I myself would happily bow down and spit in his face.

There is only One Vehicle that doesn't get bogged in the mirage of delusion.

    OM MANI PADME HUM.

  3. Stuck in the vice of the realm where it seems there is only choosing between Yes and No we are infants careening around on our tricycles colliding with the objective world. To mature is to realize this Yes and No are not the only choice...there is a strange Way that slips one beyond that entire world...the world of mind. Where are Yes and No then?
